Rules for standard tournaments

Unless specified otherwise, the following rules apply to all tournaments.

Registration

1 - Single-table Sit & Go: starts as soon as the number of players requested is reached. The players choose where to sit based on their order of arrival

2 - Multi-table Sit & Go: starts immediately after the required number of players have registered. The seats at the table are assigned on a random basis.

3 - Multi-table tournaments: start at pre-specified times. The seats at the table are assigned on a random basis.

4 - A player may participate in a tournament that permits late registration even when the game has started. Registration is considered closed only in the following cases:

  • On completion of the first level of the tournament.
  • When a player is eliminated from the tournament.
  • When all available seats are occupied.
  • When the maximum capacity of the tournament is reached.

5 - Players may cancel registration on a Sit & Go tournament as long as the last person must start the tournament is not already registered or has not taken their seat at the table.

6 - Players may cancel registration on a Sit & Go multi-table tournament as long as registration has not yet closed.

7 - Password-protected tournaments: use the password sent by email to register for these tournaments. Passwords are sent only to players deemed to be suitable participants.

Rules

8 - All players in tournaments are required to wager blinds and/or antes. Players that are not present and ready to play must still place blinds/antes.

9 - Multi-table tournament tables are closed with the highest number first descending to the lowest last. As tables are chosen, players are positioned randomly. This means that a player may have to wager a blind, after having already done so on the previous table.

10 - In multi-table tournaments, players are allocated evenly as follows:

  • Three players, if the number of tables is greater than 10
  • Two players, if the number of tables is greater than two but less than 10
  • One player, if there are two tables

11 - Players pass onto the next hand after a transfer (provided they have not been moved into the blind position). Players are informed about potential transfers (and also whether other players are transferred to their table).

12 - In general, each player shall wager a blind and a big blind in one turn. As tables are broken up and players move position, as indicated as follows, the following may be checked at any time:

  • A player may be required to wager a big blind more than once per turn
  • A player may be appointed as the dealer for more than one hand
  • A player may skip a blind or both blinds in one turn

Since this is checked randomly, no player is given a long-term advantage and this rules applies necessarily to all players.

13 - In common card games (Hold'em and Omaha), players use the highest card to establish the initial position of the dealer. If two players have a card of equal value, in order to establish who starts as the dealer, the seeded priority is used (in the following order: spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs).

14 - All tournaments continue until one player wins all chips. In rare cases (some qualification tournaments), a tournament may be stopped even if players remain.

15 - With the exception of re-buy tournaments, a player is eliminated when s/he loses all their chips.

16 - In Limit tournaments (with a fixed bet), each turn includes a bet and three raises. When only two players remain, there is no limit on the number of raises. In pot-limit and no-limit tournaments, there is no limit on the number of raises.

17 - When only two players remain, the player whose turn it is to place the big blind will place that bet and the person who bets the blind becomes the dealer. The person who breaks the link or the dealer shall be the first to speak before the flop and the second after the flop.

18 - If two or more players are eliminated at the same table in the same hand, the player that started the hand with the highest number of chips shall be given the highest final position.

19 - If two or more players are eliminated at different tables in the same hand, the cash prize shall be divided equally between all the players who have finished in the same position. Each player is assigned the lowest position in the rankings.

20 - Players are required to follow the standard poker code of conduct. Any abuse of the code of conduct will result in the player being disqualified from the tournament.

21 - 'Soft-playing' is not permitted in tournaments. By soft-playing, we mean a situation where a player does not make a bet corresponding to the actual potential of the hand with the explicit intention of aiding another player to continue the tournament.

22 - Failure to make a bet in pre-specified time ('time out') will be automatically considered as a 'pass' by the player.

23 - at pre-specified times, tournament hands will be played one after the other. This enables the tables to play exactly the same number of hands at critical moments.

Cancellation policy

24 - Sit & Go at one table if a tournament is cancelled for technical reasons, players that were already eliminated before the cancellation lose the buy-in and the entrance fee. Those remaining players shall be reimbursed the buy-ins and entrance fees and the money from the buy-ins of already eliminated players will be divided equally, setting aside their chip count at the time the tournament is cancelled.

25 -Sit & Go multi-table tournaments: If a tournament is cancelled for technical reasons, the following reimbursement criteria apply:

  • Players that were already eliminated at the time of the cancellation will not be reimbursed buy-ins and the entrance fees.
  • Players that are already participating in the tournament at the time of cancellation will be reimbursed as follows:
  • All players still in the tournament at the time of cancellation are given a cash prize equivalent to the amount that would have been given to the next player eliminated from the tournament. 50% of the remaining prize money is distributed in equal parts between all players still participating in the tournament at the time of cancellation and the other 50% is distributed as a percentage at the time of cancellation based on the chip count each player holds at the time of cancellation.
  • Entrance fee

26 - Tournaments with play money: If, for whatever reason, a tournament with play money is cancelled, it shall be considered un-played. This also includes tournaments placed using play money, but which stipulate a final prize with real money. The prize money for these tournaments shall not be re-distributed and no compensation shall be paid to players still participating in the tournament at the time of cancellation.

27 -  The tournament disconnection, protection and cancellation policy applies to all tournaments.
